The Behaviour Thinking System
Behaviour Thinking System
Helping people become more intentional about the choices they make every day.
The Behaviour Thinking System is an evidence-informed behaviour navigation framework developed by Rosemary Martin to help children, young people and adults think more intentionally about their behaviour and the direction it is taking them.
Built upon the principle that every behaviour is a pathway, the framework encourages people to recognise that every choice moves them either closer to, or further away from, their goals, emotional wellbeing, relationships and the future they want to create.
Rather than focusing solely on behaviour after something has gone wrong, the Behaviour Thinking System helps people pause, reflect and consider the likely direction and impact of their choices before they act. By developing greater awareness of how behaviour influences everyday life, individuals become better equipped to make choices that align with their values, aspirations and long-term wellbeing.
The framework can be used across a wide range of settings, including families, schools, social care, youth services and community organisations. It provides a practical approach for supporting positive behaviour, strengthening decision-making and encouraging meaningful reflection through structured discussion and real-life application.
Whether supporting a child, a young person or an adult, the Behaviour Thinking System offers a simple but powerful way of understanding that behaviour is not just about what we do—it is about where our choices are leading us.
Every behaviour is a pathway. Every pathway leads somewhere. The more clearly we understand where our choices lead, the better equipped we are to build the future we truly want.
